The Indiana State Senate has a busy agenda Wednesday. In addition to debating an amendment to the state constitution banning gay marriage, senators are also expected to discuss a statewide smoking ban. The bill moved out of the House for the fifth straight year but this is the first time the Senate has allowed a hearing on it.

Critics of the ban say the state needs a complete ban, regardless of location or type of business. However, Republicans say exemptions for bars and casinos are almost a requirement for passage. 39 other states have some sort of statewide smoking ban.
