For the second day in a row, the NHRA US Nationals canceled races at Lucas Oil Raceway. Officials said the track was too wet for safe racing and rescheduled all Sunday and Monday events instead.
Anyone with tickets will be able to get into the rescheduled race days. If they can’t show up, race officials said their tickets would be credited to next year’s event.
At Crooked Stick Golf Course in Carmel, the first day of events for the BMW Championship Series was also canceled. Corporate events and a celebrity shootout were planned for Monday, but rain over the weekend left the course soaking wet and setup behind schedule.
“We just felt that it'd be better not to have any play (on the course), (to) not have people out here and ruin it for the rest of the week,” VP of Tournaments Vince Pellegrino said.
Ticketholders for Monday’s events can use those tickets to attend practices on Tuesday or Wednesday. The best golfers in the world are scheduled to show up as usual for practice on those days and to start the tournament on Thursday.
“No matter if we get rain or not, we'll out here playing and things will be going on,” Pellegrino said.
