Indianapolis—More than 100 volunteers were busy Wednesday stuffing 10,000 backpacks for this year's National Lemonade Day, which takes place on May 1st. The event teaches children how to start, own and operate their own business by opening a lemonade stand. The backpacks are filled with all the information kids will need.
"Last year was the first year Indianapolis participated in the national event and organizers say it was a huge success. We had 7,400 kids participate last year, we broke the lemonade day record so we had the most number of kids sign up in a city's first year... so we had tremendous results last year," said Lemonade Director Jami Marsh.
Those 7,400 children generated more than $250,000 in donations to charities of their choice.
