According to our media partners at the Bloomington Herald-Times, an elderly husband and wife died in a fire Tuesday night in southwestern Monroe County.

Investigators do not believe the fire is suspicious at this point.

Monroe County Coroner Nicole Meyer could not release the names of the two people who died in the house fire, as family members still had to be notified. She confirmed the deceased are an elderly couple.

Firefighters were dispatched to the house fire at 10:43 p.m. Tuesday on West Crum Road. The woman called 911 from a landline phone within the house and told dispatchers they had a "bad fire" in the residence, according to Jerry Hooten, fire chief for Indian Creek Township Fire Rescue. Dispatchers told the home owner everyone needed to evacuate the home.

When firefighters arrived seven minutes after the 911 call, they discovered the woman dead by the front door and found a man dead by a door leading into the garage.
