The Madame Walker Theatre Center will commemorate the life and legacy of the late civil and human rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., in a 90-minute commemorative celebration on Monday, January 18th in the historic Madame Walker Theatre. The program titled, Keep the Dream Alive, will feature local artists singing songs filled with inspiration, community leaders sharing words of wisdom and dancers celebrating through praise movement. The event is free and open to the public. Contributions will be accepted. Preceding Keep the Dream Alive will be the Fifth Annual Freedom Walk, which begins at noon at the Indianapolis Urban League (IUL), located at 777 Indiana Avenue. The mock march will leave the IUL Building and process down the sidewalk to the Madame Walker Theatre. Doors at the IUL Building will open at 11:00 a.m. Light refreshments will be served.
