Suspect believed to be barricaded inside home near 21st & Euclid Avenue
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and the SWAT team were called to the 2000 block of Euclid Avenue early Wednesday morning when a caller reported a man with a gun.
Police obtained a search warrant for the residence. At approximately 8 a.m., police fired the first round of tear gas in an attempt to get the suspect to surrender.
Approximately 15 minutes later, a young woman came out of the home and spoke with police. Police do not believe she was held in the home against her will.
Pipes was arrested for intimidation and resisting law enforcement. The woman involved in the incident is being questioned by police.
“It’s just a sad situation and I’m glad it’s over with,” said the suspect’s grandmother, Victoria Brown. “He has been in some trouble before and hopefully now his attitude will change a little bit.”
Police left the scene around 8:40 a.m. to respond to another SWAT incident in the downtown area.
