Rocker John Mellencamp will play a concert later this month at a Columbus, Ind., theater where he performed one of his first shows.

Mellencamp will perform Sept. 23 at the 700-seat Crump Theatre, as part of a new A&E cable series called "Back Where We Started." He'll perform with his full band in a concert that will begin at 9 p.m.

Crump Theatre executive director Rovene Quigley says the 56-year-old Seymour native was a teenager when he played one of his first live shows at the downtown Columbus theater.

Organizers are still working on ticket information, but Mellencamp's publicist says some may be sold to the public to benefit local flood relief.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee's biggest hits include "Jack & Diane" and "Our Country."
