Mayor Ballard recovers after knee surgery Tuesday

Indianapolis

Mayor Greg Ballard is recovering after undergoing knee surgery Tuesday morning, the mayor’s office confirmed.

Officials said the mayor felt pain in his knee while in Europe last week for an economic development trip.  They said he had a similar injury in the past and had outpatient surgery Tuesday to repair it.

Mayor Ballard announced the surgery on his Twitter, stating “Had minor knee surgery this morning. Went well thanks to great people at Community East. Hope to be back on my bike in next 2-3 weeks.”

The mayor is expected to be out of the office for the rest of the week, but he is expected to make a speedy recovery.
