Last day to submit suggestion for new Georgia Street name Tuesday

The last day to submit an idea is Tuesday. The decision is likely to be announced in October.

The City of Indianapolis and Indianapolis Downtown, Inc. is seeking the public's input on a new name for Georgia Street.  

The last day to submit an idea is Tuesday.  The decision is likely to be announced in October.  

Georgia Street is a three-block stretch between the Indiana Convention Center and Conseco Fieldhouse. 

The area is currently under construction to become a pedestrian-friendly walkway.

All submissions must follow these guidelines:
1.    The name cannot be more than 27 characters total.
2.    The first word cannot be a number.
3.    It cannot be the name of an existing street.  

Indianapolis Downtown, Inc. has already received the following suggestions:

  • Keep it Georgia Street
  • Whitcomb Street
  • General Timothy Maude (killed at Pentagon on 9/11)
  • Victory Street
  • Liberty Street
