Indianapolis

Nearly 20,000 Hoosiers now have homes that are ready for winter weather thanks to federal stimulus money.

Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman was on the eastside Wednesday, to give an update on the Home Energy Conservation Program.

During a normal year, the U.S. Department of Energy only gives Indiana enough money to weatherize the homes of about 2,000 qualifying residents.

Research shows, homeowners who get energy-saving home improvements save up to 30 percent on their utility bills.
