Indianapolis

The Indianapolis City-County Council could sign off on a stricter smoking ban at Monday night’s meeting.

The new proposed ordinance would ban smoking in all bars, but let private clubs decide whether to go smoke free or not. That's tougher than the new state-wide ban just signed into law.

Mayor Greg Ballard said he wants to see the language on private clubs before he signs off on this proposed smoking ban. That was a sticking point when he vetoed a similar ban in February.
