Chapin & Havlicek Physical Therapy: Bill Chapin and Fred Havlicek. (May 4, 2012)

1) Chapin & Havlicek

William Chapin and Fred Havlicek were surprised when they learned they'd earned the top spot in our readers' poll -- they weren't aware that voting was going on. But they're thrilled to have been chosen. "We have a very experienced staff," says physical therapist William Chapin. "I've been around a long time, Fred's been around a long time, doing physical therapy. We try to do it very comprehensively, and thoroughly. We try to provide excellent care, though it's becoming harder and harder to do in this time of cutbacks in health insurance." Some areas they specialize in at Chapin & Havlicek include TMJ, dizziness, prosthetics, and bracing issues. They've got a certified hand therapist. There's an orthopedic focus, but they see neurological patients as well. "We'll see patients routinely in our office for an hour, an hour and fifteen minutes," says Fred Havlicek. "It's not just in and out. Bill and I have been working together since he hired me in 1983. We have a practice that's based upon word of mouth and a loyal patient base, and a physician base that refers to us. We see a lot of physicians as patients in our practice too." Some other perks that set them apart from the rest include free parking at both the Branford and New Haven offices, long hours (7 a.m.-7 p.m.), private rooms and a gym.
