Chip's Restaurant

Chip's Restaurant: Dina Bajko and George Chatzapoulos. (April 30, 2012)

1) Chip's Family Restaurant

The billboards along I-95 don't lie. Chip's does pancakes right. And other breakfast items too. "We have different kinds of omelets than the regular omelets you can get at any diner," says owner George Chatzopoulos. "We have a lobster omelet, a crab meat omelet… it's different. And we have over 40 varieties of pancakes. We specialize in breakfast but we have lunch and dinners too." Some of the more popular pancake varieties include German apple pancakes, Chocoholic, the full grain whole wheat pancakes, pina colada pancakes, fresh fruit, and White Chocolate Rendezvous, which combines white chocolate and macadamia nuts, with fresh strawberries on top. Chip's pancakes are light and fluffy, meaning that finishing the full stack of five pancakes is a goal that can be accomplished. "We also offer gluten-free pancakes," says Chatzopoulos' sister, Dina Bajko. "Same recipe but with a different flour… Chip's is a landmark in Orange. It's been there for 45, going on 46 years. Whoever tries it falls in love with it. Once they try it, they always come back."
