Ball State keeps winning and its Rivalry week. Should turn into a great Saturday in College Football. Last week I went 18-7 which brings my overall record to 202-86 this year. Here is a look at my week 13 picks, lets see how you do against me.
Ohio State over Michigan - My only hope in this one is that Michigan is playing in its championship game. The only way to get the bad taste of this season out of their mouths is a win at Ohio State. That being said they just don't have the talent to get it done. Hopefully they will be able to keep it close.
Purdue over Indiana - Joe Tillers last game as a head coach is against instate rival Indiana. Indiana won last year on a last second field goal but I think this year the emotion of playing at home in Tillers last game will be enough for Purdue to hold on for a win.
Northwestern over Illinois - Illinois has been up and down all year. They have looked great and looked terrible and you never know what team is going to show up. Northwestern got spanked last year but I think their defense gives them a slight edge. I think it will be a close game but NU will come away with the win.
Wisconsin over Cal Poly - In what should have been an easy win Wisconsin will host Cal Poly. They only problem is Cal Poly is 8-1 this year and know how to win. Cal Poly's senior QB Jonathan Dally has 20 touchdowns to only 1 interception this year which is amazing. That being said Wisconsin has really started to put it together lately. I think Cal Poly will stay close in the first half before running out of steam in the second. Wisconsin by 10.
Iowa over Minnesota - Minnesota had everything going for it early but has really hit a slide as of late. The Hawkeye's struggled early before coming on as of late. Everything points to a one sided Iowa win in this one.
Michigan State over Penn State - Penn State is hoping that they got right last week against Indiana. They had a slow start which is becoming their MO and if they stumble out of the gates against the Spartans I don't think they will be able to make up the ground. Michigan State is playing well and know that a win means a share of the conference championship. Ringer runs wild in the MSU win.
North Carolina over NC State - NC State took this one last year but North Carolina is a different team now. They took a tough loss last week but I look for them to rebound. This should be a close game and but I think the Tar Heels pull it off 28-24.
Florida over Citadel - No contest.
Mississippi over LSU - LSU got a wakeup call last week against Troy, trailing 31-3 at the half before coming back for the win. LSU is not that good this year and don't have an quarterback. Mississippi has a good defense that handed Florida its only loss this year and I see them shutting down LSU and winning on the road.
TCU over Air Force - TCU's only two losses this year came to top ten teams and they have a very solid defense. Air Force is having a fine season but they don't have enough to pull the upset at home in this one. I think TCU wins by 10.
Boise State over Nevada - Boise seems poised for an upset but I don't think it is going to happen this week. The Bronco's biggest test is still to come against Fresno State and I think they will make it there undefeated.
Utah over BYU - In possibly the game of the year for non-BCS teams the Utes are trying to prove that they belong at the dance while BYU is going to try to play spoiler. I thought that Utah was going to lose to TCU, who has a better team BYU, and since they won that one I have to pick them to finish undefeated at home. I think this will be a high scoring game but the Utes will win it 45-31.
Oregon State over Arizona - Oregon State is getting closer and closer to locking up that bid to the Rose Bowl. Arizona will probably be their toughest test on the way to the Pac-10 championship. The Beavers are playing really well this year after some early season gaffs but I think this game they will look sharp.
Pittsburgh over Cincinnati - Pittsburgh is ranked again so they land back in my weekly picks. I have picked them wrong every single game so this week I'll pick them so they are almost guaranteed to lose.
Maryland over Florida State - Florida State didn't look good last week in the loss to Boston College. Maryland has been playing to the level of their opponents all year long and are very tough at home. I think Maryland will win a close one by a field goal.
Texas Tech over Oklahoma - While Oklahoma got through the tough part of their schedule early this year Texas Tech is right in the middle heart of it. Texas couldn't make it unblemished during a streak of 4 straight games against top 10 teams but having a bye last week should allow Texas Tech to take a breather and let head coach Vince Gill...I mean Mike Leach come up with a good game plan against Oklahoma. I think the scoreboard may tally 100 in this one but Texas Tech comes out on top.
Notre Dame over Syracuse - Notre Dame needs to look dominant against a terrible Syracuse team in order to garner some respect from the bowl selection committe. I think they can win this game but I'm not sure it will be a blow out. Look for Syracuse to hang around for awhile and make it interesting before Notre Dame pulls away.
MTSU over North Texas - Finally a game I can feel good about taking MTSU. North Texas is having a down year and the Blue Raiders have them at home. I like MTSU by 15 in this one.
Vanderbilt over Tennessee - Vanderbilt's feel good season is about to feel a lot better when they get a chance to take down instate rival Tennessee. Tennessee is just plain awful this year and Vandy is going to smell the blood in the water. Payback should feel good for the 'Dores.
Stanford over Cal - Stanford has come really close to upsets in back to back weeks. They are playing well for the talent that they have and I think this is the week that they make it over the hump. I think Stanford gets the 31-28 win on the road.
Boston College over Wake Forrest - BC had a big win in primetime last week against Florida State and I think they will carry that momentum into the game against Wake. The ACC is completely up for grabs this year and every win is needed to secure a championship and I think the Eagles will get this one.
Louisville over West Virginia - West Virginia is having a hard time putting a good winning streak together this year and I think having to travel to Louisville might be too much. The Mountaineers have all of the tools they just can't put it all together and Louisville really needs this win to try to keep this season from being a total loss.
Uconn over South Florida - I admit I was on the Bulls band wagon for all of last year and half of this year but 3 Big East losses makes me jump ship. UConn isn't flashy but they are solid and I think they go down to Tampa and get the win in this one.
Rice over Marshall - Rice is averaging 40 points a game this year to Marshall's 20. Despite that I think this will be a close game. Rice also can't play D so look for this to be a track meet and a high scoring affair.
Harvard over Yale - Since there aren't a lot of games this week I was forced to pick an Ivy league game for the first time. I'm sure everyone on the field will be smarter than me and someday be my boss so I'll just pick Harvard because they are 8-1 this year and leave it at that.
