COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Evan Turner scored 14 points, including
the go-ahead basket, to lead No. 21 Ohio State past Butler 54-51 on
The Buckeyes (6-0), coming off big road wins against ranked
Miami and Notre Dame, looked sluggish after having the week off for
final exams. They built a 13-point lead early in the second half,
then missed seven of their next eight shots. They had just one
field goal in the final 12 minutes.
Gordon Hayward and Shelvin Mack led Butler (5-1) with
25 and 13 points, respectively, scoring the Bulldogs' first 16
points of the second half.
Turner pump faked and hit a 10-footer in the lane to put the
Buckeyes ahead 53-51 with 3:08 left.
Hayward lunged from the left wing on a 3-point attempt with a
second left that hit the back of the iron.
