STORRS - A stomach flu sweeping through the University of Connecticut has sent 114 students to the infirmary over the past two weeks.

Concerned about the large number of students complaining of gastrointestinal problems, the university sanitarian investigated and ruled out any food-borne illness.

Last March, a norovirus sickened about 30 students who attended a banquet hosted by a UConn sorority at the Adam's Mill Restaurant in Manchester.

This time around, the university sanitarian interviewed students to find out what they ate and where and when they ate it, university spokeswoman Karen Grava said.

"In this case we cannot find any commonality where or what they ate or whether they live. After consulting with the state department of health, no further testing was done," Grava said.

Grava said some students missed classes or went home, but none was ill enough to require hospitalization.
