Police are on the scene of a one car crash on New Lane in Cromwell that has seriously injured the two people in the vehicle.

Around 2 a.m., a Pontiac Sunfire was driving at a high rate of speed on New Lane when it crashed into a tree. There were two men in the car and one had to be extricated from the vehicle. Police identified the driver as Carmine Seminoro, 28, of Middletown, and the passenger as Dan Kovach, 22, of Cromwell.

One was taken by Life Star to Hartford Hospital and the second man was taken by ambulance to Hartford Hospital.

Accident reconstruction team is on the scene. Police said that alcohol or drugs were not involved in the accident, but they believe that speed did play a factor in the crash.
