Benton Township Water has announced that the boil water order has been lifted after laboratory testing showed no harmful bacteria.

On Tuesday water users, primarily north of Klock Road and west of the CSX Railroad, were asked to boil water for 5 minutes before using it for drinking or cooking until further notice.

A water main break near the intersection of Paw Paw Avenue and Riverside Road caused a loss of water pressure Monday.

Though the break was repaired and water crews flushed the water system, the order remained in effect until tests were clear, according to a news release from Michael O’Malley, Benton Harbor water superintendent.
