Sylvester Williams Jr. is charged with the murder of John Hughes.  Two years ago police say Williams stabbed Hughes three times in the abdomen inside the East Shore Y-M-C-A.  Hughes survived the attack, but his health deteriorated dying in December 2008.

"We've maintained the cause of death goes back to the stabbing incident which caused further complications in this victims life," said Carlton Smith, Assistant Dauphin County District Attorney.

According to court records an autopsy determined Hughes died as a result of complications to the abdomen due to the injuries of the attack and the manner of death homicide.  Both attorney's admit testimony from medical examiners will be critical to prove murder.

"I think a year almost a year and half, two years later I think that is something the doctors are going to have to look at what the direct cause of the death was," said Nathan Giunta, Williams defense attorney.

It was inside one of these rooms at the East Shore Y-M-C-A police say they have surveillance video showing Williams walking into Hughes room moments later seeing Williams running down the hall.

"We believe that these are the same clothes that this defendant wears we believe he's one of the same the person shown on the video and the defendant that we have arrested," said Smith.

Williams was taken into custody shortly after the stabbing.  He was originally charged with aggravated assault his trial was about to start when John Hughes died.  Following the autopsy Williams was charged with murder.
