We chatted with the NYC LGBT Film Festival's director Lesli Kleinberg about today's kick-off.
Lesli is an award winning documentary filmmaker and the Executive Director of NewFest, the NYC LGBT Film Festival. Lesli is a producer and director of a wide variety of non-fiction films and since 2000, her production company, Orchard Films, has produced documentaries that have screened at film festivals such as Sundance, Berlin, Frameline and Provincetown and been broadcast on PBS, A&E, AMC, WE and The Independent Film Channel.
Newfest 2011, New York's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender film festival, has announced its full lineup, which will make its way around the boroughs July 21-28.
The festival kicks off opening night with the David Weissman's documentary film "We Were Here," which chronicles the arrival and impact of AIDS in San Francisco (trailer below), at the Film Society of Lincoln Center.
