Chelsea Pierse—Dozens of women served up tasty treats tonight to put on a public face in the fight against Breast and Ovarian Cancer. Celebrities like actress Jill Eikenberry and New York City's former first lady Donna Hanover strapped on their aprons for the 7th annual "Second Helping of Life" food fest.
Tonight's event supports SHARE, a 35 year old NY organization that provides support to women in the fight of their life. All volunteers are themselves survivors.
Over 200, 000 women in the US will get diagnosed with Breast Cancer this year. approximately 22,000 women will be diagnosed w Ovarian Cancer , which has no cure. SHARE also devotes resources to go into underserved communities to educate women on about why early detection is vital to survival.
