Suffolk County police detectives on Wednesday asked for the public's help identifying a hit-and-run driver whose vehicle hit and seriously injured a 91-year-old man in a fast-food restaurant parking lot in Smithtown.
The police hope to find witnesses who may not have realized at the time
how severely the victim was injured in the Jan. 27 incident, which took
place at 10:40 a.m. just after he finished a meal at a McDonald's at
614 Middle Country Rd.
Stony Brook University Medical Center and treated for a broken hip and a head laceration.
"The McDonald's Restaurant was busy at the time of the incident and
investigators believe there may be witnesses unaware of the seriousness
of the accident," Suffolk police Fourth Squad detectives said.
