David Graf, 29, of Seaford, was charged Tuesday with third-degree robbery in connection with bank heists in East Meadow, Plainview, Albertson, Massapequa, Cedarhurst and Wantagh. Police said the first incident took place March 21, with the attempted robbery of a bank in Levittown. Graf's girlfriend, identified as Lauren Becker, 26, of Commack, was charged with third-degree robbery of the banks in Plainview and Massapequa, as well as the attempted bank robbery in Levittown.
Nassau County Police Det. Sgt. John Giambrone. Graf and Becker are reportedly addicted to heroin.
Police said no weapons were used in the robberies where Graf would typically pass along a note to the teller, then leave with the cash. After three of the robberies, his girlfriend allegedly drove the getaway car, police said.
Graf has been described as an unemployed electrician. Becker was reportedly a Hofstra University student until recently. They were arrested after Graf was recognized from bank surveillance photos that has been placed on "wanted" posters throughout the county.
