You wait hours to see a doctor and when you finally get into the office, your mind goes blank. So what questions should every woman be asking their gynocologist? Dr. Maurie Markman will give us a break down.
Dr. Markman is currently the Vice President of Patient Oncology Services and National Director of Medical Oncology at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA). He has more than 20 years of experience in cancer treatment and gynecologic research at some of the country's most recognized facilities including M.D. Anderson Cancer Center; Taussig Cancer Center at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation; and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
Ovarian cancer is also ripe for editorial attention as the deadliest of all gynecologic cancers.
Dr. Markman could serve as a guest expert or commentator on any ovarian cancer issues you might be covering in the coming month. He could also serve as a guest blogger, or participate in an online/video chat that discusses what your viewers need to know most about ovarian cancer. For example, what are the risk factors, symptoms, some of the diagnostic and treatment options available, and questions to ask your doctor.
Ovarian Cancer - Did you know?
Deadly disease: Ovarian cancer is the deadliest of all gynecologic cancers. It ranks fifth as the cause of cancer death in women.
Later in Life Diagnosis: About half of women who are diagnosed with ovarian cancer are 60 or older.
Low Early Stage Diagnosis: Only about 20% of ovarian cancers are found at an early stage. Finding the cancer early improves the chances that it can be treated with success. About 9 out of 10 women treated for early ovarian cancer will live longer than 5 years after the cancer is found.
