A 23-year-old man arrested in connection for a Queens fire that killed his pregnant ex-girlfriend and her 2-year-old son will be arraigned Friday on arson and assault charges.

Jimmy Humphrey admitted to police that just before the fire he grabbed 25-year-old Linda Anderson, who was seven months pregnant, by the throat and shoved her during a fight on the second floor of the home, according to Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.

Humphrey claims that when Anderson fell, she knocked over a bottle of nail polish remover and a candle, which set her on fire while her young son, Ayden Hayes, slept in another room.

Brown says Humphrey immediately fled the house and returned to his home, about a block away, where he laid in bed for some time before reporting in the fire to emergency services.

Detectives ruled the blaze at Anderson Road in St. Albans suspicious when the all-hands fire broke out during the early morning hours of July 13.

Humphrey faces 25 years to life in prison. Additional charges may be filed against Humphrey when the final autopsy report is available.
