DUBAI (PIX11)—An ad for a gym in Dubai featuring a picture of a famous Nazi death camp generated so much outrage, it quickly disappeared.
The ad promotes weight loss by using a photo showing the train tracks leading to Auschwitz, where millions of Jews were murdered, along with the slogan "Kiss Your Calories Goodbye."
"We are increasingly troubled by both the ignorance and mindset of a generation that appears to be so distant from a basic understanding of the Holocaust," Foxman said.
"That's the most offensive thing I've seen in my life," said Manhattan resident Julie Pinkwater.
While Circuit Factory gym founder Phil Parkinson welcomed the attention the ad was getting, and the business it was bringing, the storm of controversy it created ultimately proved too much for him to handle. The 32-year-old British national had it removed from the gym's Facebook page, and then he apologized.
"Apologies for the insane poster campaign that was put up this morning. The creative guy has been told where to go," Parkinson tweeted.
"I wouldn't fire them. I would force them to go to a seminar. I would force them to go to Auschwitz," Foxman said.
