A group of ducklings who became trapped inside a storm drain on Long Island were rescued by Suffolk County emergency officials.

The incident occurred around noon Thursday on 24 Research Way in Setauket. Employees, who heard faint chirping from the storm drain in the rear of the parking lot, quickly alerted authorities.

When police arrived, they removed the cover of the storm drain and fished out with ducklings with an improvised net on a long pole.

Officials say the ducklings appeared to be uninjured and were anxious to return to their mother.
