BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, N.Y. ( WPIX) -- A Brooklyn toddler, who was stabbed in the head during a domestic dispute Saturday night, is recovering in the hospital, according to New York City police.

The incident occurred in the Bedford Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn. Police say a 23-year-old woman was holding her 2-year-old while she was arguing with the child's father in her home on Jefferson Avenue. The 24-year-old man apparently lunged at the woman during the altercation, but missed her and instead stabbed the toddler.

The child was rushed to King County Hospital. He is currently listed in stable condition, according to a police spokesman.

The suspect was last spotted fleeing the house and remains at large. An investigation into the incident by New York City police is currently underway.
