NEW YORK, N.Y. (WPIX) -- We now know the names of the clients who lost huge sums of money they had invested with former financier Bernard Madoff.  The investors who saw their fortunes disappear include Hall of Fame pitcher Sandy Koufax, actor Kevin Bacon and his actress wife Kyra Sedgwick, World Trade Center developer Larry Silverstein, actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, and former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer's family's real estate firm.

Their names appear on a list of several thousand of Madoff's clients who lost money investing with him. The amount, however that each person or institution invested isn't revealed.

The list was made public in a court filing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York City, shortly after a whistle-blower in the case testified at a hearing before lawmakers in Washington. Harry Markopolos told the lawmakers that he saw funds were being relayed to Madoff in Europe, and he was concerned managers of the so-called "feeder" funds may have been ignoring signs of a massive fraud scheme.

Prosecutors say Madoff admits he lost more than $50 billion that belonged to investors. Defense lawyers say he has cooperated with
authorities to help identify assets.

Madoff, who has yet to be indicted, is being held under house arrest at his multimillion-dollar penthouse on Manhattan's Upper East Side.
