Since 2007, the S.M.C.L. Fifth Annual Field of Hope Event has enhanced the quality of life for area youth and adults from all backgrounds through games and activities. This yearly event benefits the Adaptive Wheelchair Sports and Recreational Games for youth, adults and families with members who have a physical disability.
This year, the event will be hosted at Dillard University, Dec. 16-18, and will distribute many toys through Toys for Tots. In addition, there will be adaptive sports and recreational activities for families with relatives or veterans who suffer from spinal bifida, spinal cord injury, spinal cord disease, multiple sclerosis or Lou Gehrig's disease, or lost a lower limb due to an amputation. The event will also support certain individuals who are considered legally blind from a visual impairment.
