Taylor Swift will be celebrating her 23rd birthday with fans in a special way! MTV will premiere Taylor’s 23rd music video for “I Knew You Were Trouble,” on her birthday tomorrow (12/13). Taylor co-wrote the song with Max Martin and Shellback - who helped add a touch of dub-step to the tune. Taylor admits it was unintentional - she just wanted the song to sound chaotic!
“At the end of it, I wanted it to be like, ‘Now I’m lying in the cold hard ground – OH!’ And then [loud noises], I was like, ‘I just want the bass to go crazy!’ And they were like, ‘So a little dub-step?’ I said, ‘I don’t know – I just want it to be chaotic like that!’
Taylor tells MTV that the video shares the story of “a girl who falls into a world that’s too fast for her, and suffers the consequences.” Reeve Carney, who plays “Peter Parker” in Broadway’s Spider Man, plays the love interest of a pink-haired Taylor in the video. Catch the premiere of the “I Knew You Were Trouble” music video on Thursday at 4:40PM Eastern on MTV.
