Just in time for the winter parking ban, a new website can help you stay out of the tow yard.

SpotHero.com is the brainchild of Chicagoans Mark Lawrence and Jeremy Smith. Between them, they've spent thousands of dollars on parking tickets. They feel your pain, in other words.

Their tech startup is built to make driving to urban areas a bit easier. Instead of crusing around looking for spots or garages, you can book a spot in advance - ideally at a lower rate. They're in the process of booking deals with large garages for discounted spaces.

The site also allows spot owners to post their spaces online. So, if you live in Wrigleyville and have a nice driveway that sits empty on gamedays - why not rent it out for a few hours and charge 30 bucks?

SpotHero.com is free to use, but if you sell a spot on the site, they take a percentage of your sale, much like StubHub or Ebay. You can check out the site HERE. My video feature is above.

Use another great site or know somebody with a neat startup business? I'd love to hear about them! Shoot me an email at mleshock@tribune.com.
