CHICAGO—A Northwest Side man is under arrest after a Chicago Police Gang Enforcement Team’s investigation has led to the discovery of his “exotic hydroponic operation.”
Paul Sherman, 50, of the 3900 block of North Elston Ave, was charged with one count of felony manufacturing of marijuana, along with weapons violations.
Police describe it as an exotic and sophisticated grow operation. A source tells WGN it had been in operation here for a long time.
The location is a home and photography studio on the northwest side near Elston and Irving Park. A website connected to the Paul Sherman Photography studio indicates it's been a thriving business with some high-profile clients.
Also in his home, two illegal firearms and more than $30,000 cash, according to police.
Sherman is set to appear in central bond court today.
