An American couple still missing after an Italian cruise ship crashed this weekend has a son living in Chicago’s northwest suburbs.
Barb and Jerry Heil, who reside in Minnesota, have been missing since giant cruise liner Costa Concordia capsized Friday near the island of Giglio, Italy. Their son John Heil lives in Mount Prospect.
While Heil has declined to speak with the media, the Heils’ family in Minnesota released a statement to the Associated Press saying their thoughts and prayers are with their parents, with the others who are missing and the brave rescuers.
So far, six bodies have been recovered and 16 people are still missing among 4,200 who were aboard when the cruise liner struck and rolled onto its side.
