A suburban man, apparently upset that a police officer would not move away from a gas pump quickly enough, was arrested after he made multiple attempts to runover the officer with his car.

According to Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart, 28-year old Juan Gutierrez-Cabrera of Northlake is charged with assault for the incident outside Sam's Club at 141 W. North Avenue in Northlake on March 14th.

A 14-year officer of the Cook County Sheriff's Police gang investigation unit was standing at a gas pump and had just finished fueling his car. That is when he felt something behind him. The officer observed a vehicle driven by Gutierrez-Cabrera lunging forward at the officer. The officer ordered Gutierrez-Cabrera to stop. When the driver continued to back up and driver forward at the officer, the officer drew his weapon and ordered the driver out of the car.

Gutierrez-Cabrera was charged with misdemeanor assault and cited for driving without a license and having no insurance.
