OAK BROOK, Ill.—
Macy's will soon be closing its Bloomingdales home and furniture store in Oakbrook but its also planning to open a new Macy's store in Gurnee.
The new Macy’s in Gurnee is expected to be 140,000 square-feet and is set to open in the spring of 2013.
This move is all part of the company's national plan to close stores in under-performing locations while filling gaps in local markets.
Macy's will shut down five namesake stores in Kansas, Maryland, Ohio, Tennessee and Texas.
