A mid-week movie review! While it'll be no match for week 2 of 'Toy Story 3', Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz's new movie offers up some pure popcorn fun with their globe trotting action adventure, "Knight and Day."
Here's my Dean's List review:
He's a slick talking secret agent who may be a rogue agent. She's an innocent woman who happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, gets caught up in his mission and before she knows it, she's deep into something she doesn't understand and can't seem to get out of with the FBI and an evil international rogue in hot pursuit.
There's a cat and mouse/love-hate relationship between the two co-stars that carry the razor thin storyline that often defies logic and is full of holes.
Of course it's not possible that much of what happens could ever really happen. This movie is about figuring out who the bad guys really are, and more importantly, watching Cruise drag Cameron on one car chase, motorcycle jump, plane crash, helicopter escape and one gun battle after another in one more exotic worldwide location than another.
A better crafted story would have made this a perfect film. Don't go into this looking for complex movie arcs, or complex anything really. But, if you're OK with watching a couple of movie stars having a good time and tons of cool stunts and effects this one's for you.
It does what it's supposed to do, delivers uncomplicated, summer movie fun. Mission, not so impossible...a Dean's List B.
