A stabbing at a school in Chicago's South Deering neighborhood has left one student dead and another wounded.

The school is called the "AMIKids Infinity Chicago." It's an alternative school that contracts with the Chicago Board of Education. It's located at 102nd and Crandon.

The attack happened around 7:30 a.m. Thursday. Both students were taken in serious-to-critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. But, 17 year-old Chris Wormley died from his wounds.

Police have arrested a 17-year old student. He remains in police custody. No Charges have been filed as of Friday 8a.m.

Police say there had been tension between Wormely and the suspect suspect.

A 16-year old student was also stabbed. He suffered wounds to his head and received stitches. he is recovering at home today.

Sherri Ulleg, a spokeswoman for Tampa, Fla.-based AMIKids Inc., says all students at the school are ages 14 to 18.

"We provide services for kids that have been expelled or (have been) long-term suspended from CPS," Ulleg said. "They generally have severe emotional or learning disabilities and can't perform in the public schools system. They either stay for a period of time before returning to CPS or finish their schooling with AMI."
