"Lonesome George," the last remaining tortoise of his kind, has died.
The tortoise was found dead Sunday of unknown causes in the Galapagos Islands, off the coast of Ecuador.
"Lonesome George" was discovered back in 1972.
He was believed to be around 100 years old and the last member of a species of giant tortoise from La Pinta, one of the smallest islands in the Galapagos.
