Chicago police are looking for a driver who struck and killed an employee with the Cook County Clerk's Office and injured another man in West Rogers Park.
A dark blue Volkswagen Beetle hit both men while they crossed the street on the 6400 block of N. Maplewood, Monday night.
The driver never stopped after the collision which happened around 6 p.m.
The Cook County Clerk employee, Tsering Dorjee, 44, suffered a head injury and was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The father of three small children later died. He had worked for the Cook County Clerk's Office since 1998.
"Tsering was an incredibly kind soul and dedicated public servant. News of his death this morning brought his coworkers to tears. Our deepest condolences go to his wife, children and family. He will be dearly missed," said Cook County Clerk David Orr in a statement.
The other man in struck car was Dorjee's brother-in-law. He broke his leg.
The vehicle involved is described as a dark blue Volkswagen Beetle with the Illinois license plate P121817.
Witnesses say it kept going north on Maplewood, after the incident.
Dorjee was the Vice President of the Rogers Park Chamber of Commerce.
