Saints tight end Jimmy Graham, who injured his back making a catch in practice at New England last week, will play Friday night in the Superdome against Jacksonville.
Graham said he doesn't regret his outstretched effort to catch the pass. Said Graham, "I will always go all out."
Several Saints will miss the preseason home opener. They include running back Darren Sproles (knee), defensive end Turk McBride (ankle), and wide receiver Nick Toon (foot).
Saints defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo has drawn considerable praise for the play of his defense in two preseason games. But Spagnuolo says for now he will reserve judgment.
Said Spags, "I am a realist. I have been there where you believe you have taken all the correct steps. And you realize you have a long way to go. The real test is going to be the regular season, and we have a way to get their first."
Interim head coach Joe Vitt said the starters would play more than they did at New England, but he would not be specific.
Kickoff at the dome Friday night is at 7.
