New Orleans—The injury riddled Saints did just enough to keep their hopes for an unbeaten season alive.
Saints running back Reggie Bush scored 2 touchdowns and Courtney Roby returned the second half kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown as the Saints beat the Rams 28-23 Sunday in St Louis.
The Saints, playing without injured defensive starters Sedrick Ellis, Jabari Greer, and Darren Sharper, lost starting cornerback Tracy Porter to a left knee injury on the first play from scrimmage in the third quarter. Porter's knee appeared to collide with the helmet of safety Usama Young as the pair were trying to make a tackle.
Porter was carted off the field with his head in his hands.
Bush scored on a 3 yard run and 15 yard pass reception from Drew Brees.
Brees threw a 27 yard touchdown pass to Robert Meachem to give the Saints a 28-17 lead.
Rams quarterback Marc Bulger threw two touchdown passes to Donnie Avery. The second, 19 yards, pulled the Rams to within 28-23 with 2:44 to play.
The game ended with the Rams at the Saints 32. Bulger threw a hail mary pass in the endzone that was batted away.
