New Orleans—Hornets center Emeka Okafor is doing more to justify his trade to the Hornets from Charlotte.
Okafor contributed two key blocked shots and follow slam in the final 44 seconds as New Orleans rallied to beat Sacramento 97-92.
With 43.9 seconds left to play, Okafor slammed home a Chris Paul miss to give the Hornets the lead for good 93-91.
Okafor then contributed a pair of blocked shots in the final 8 seconds. On the game's final play, Okafor raced to the left corner to block a three point attempt by Kevin Martin that would have tied the game.
Paul scored 31 to lead the Hornets. Okafor contributed 11 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 blocked shots.
Okafor has contributed back to back double doubles despite missing of all of preseason with a toe sprain.
The Hornets (1-1) play at Boston Sunday night.
