NEW ORLEANS—The Hornets almost pulled off a miracle at Phoenix.
New Orleans rallied from 8 points down with 29.1 seconds to play and actually had a chance to tie. But, Marcus Thornton's layup was blocked by Grant Hill with 3.9 to play as Phoenix held on to win 104-102.
Chris Paul hit a three pointer with 17.2 seconds to play, and seconds late was made three free throws.
Paul led the Hornets with 26 points and 12 assists.
New Orleans lost center Emeka Okafor with an injury late in the first half. He did not return.
