Hornets head coach Jeff Bower is in the win column.

Bower notched his first win as an NBA head coach, 110-102 victory over the Clippers Tuesday night at New Orleans Arena.

David West scored 24 points, and Emeka Okafor pulled down 14 rebounds for the Hornets. The Hornets, who have struggled on the boards all season, outrebounded the Clippers by 15.

Rookie point guard Darren Collison, starting in place of the injured Chris Paul, scored 12 points and handed out six assists. Rookie guard Marcus Thornton scored 12 points in 21 minutes.

Bower took over as head coach when Byron Scott was fired last Thursday.

The Hornets (4-8) host Phoenix Thursday night at the Arena. Phoenix has the best record in the West.
