The Saints have said goodbye to kicker John Carney for a second time.

Carney and cornerback Marcus McCauley were cut by the team Tuesday. The Saints re-signed fullback Kyle Eckel and safety Herana-Daze Jones.

Carney is the second leading scorer in franchise history with 750 points. He kicked for the Saints in 11 games this season, converting 13 of 17 field goal attempts. But, Carney missed one field goal wide right and had another bounce in off the left upright good in a November Monday night win over New England.

Carney was inactive the following week at Washington. He was replaced by Garrett Hartley.

Carney converted 23 of 25 field goals for the Saints in 2006. But, he was not tendered a contract in 2007 as the Saints traded for Dolphins kicker Olindo Mare.

Carney, 45, has kicked for 6 NFL teams.

Jones was cut the Patriots in training camp in 2009.
