Jeff Landry is a dummy

Louisiana Republican Rep. Jeff Landry raised eyebrows at President Obama's jobs speech Thursday night when he broke from decorum and held up a sign suggesting how he'd put Americans back to work: "Drilling equals jobs."

The sign, in bold, capital letters, was a quieter, tamer version of Rep. Joe Wilson's (R-S.C.) infamous outburst of "You lie!" during Obama's 2009 address on health care, but no less an attack on the president's current jobs plan.

Shortly after Obama's speech Thursday, in which he called on Congress to pass a $450 billion plan designed to put Americans back to work, Landry released a statement criticizing the address. (September 9, 2011)

Representative Jeff Landry is at it again, doing what he does best: embarrassing the residents of the state of Louisiana.

Landry likes getting headlines and obviously believes in the philosophy of "it doesn't matter if they're talking good or bad about you just as long as they're talking about you".

He embarrassed us a few months back by ignoring an invitation to go to the White House with fellow Republicans and now he's embarrassed us again, this time by calling the regulatory arm of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management the "Gestapo".

Seems as if Jeff Landry forgot he was a congressman in Washington, D.C. representing the citizens of Louisiana.  Seems as if Landry cares more about making headlines, good or bad, and getting reelected, than actually doing something, anything, that could help our state. A typical Louisiana politician.

Long on nonsense, short on results.  When Landry isn't breaking protocol in the House chamber by holding up signs during a presidential address, he's usually pulling some ridiculous stunt like his most recent, calling a government agency Nazis.

Apparently Landry went to talk with the regulators from Ocean Energy Management. They tried to fit him in when he didn't have an appointment and was asked to come back another day. This ticked off the Rep. from New Iberia, and like a child not getting his or her way, Landry shot back with the Gestapo comment.

That shot obviously backfired.  Funny thing is, Landry doesn't think so.  He thinks this is exactly how a U.S. Congressman is supposed to act.  So the next time you see a state ranking list and you're wondering why Louisiana is last in everything good and first in everything bad, you can thank political hacks like Jeff Landry.
