So when it comes to athletics - especially football - these two programs are the Harvard and Yale of the sport. But how do think LSU and Alabama fair as academic schools? Let's just say there's a slight drop off from where they are as football powers to where they are as academic powers. Especially the Tigers.
Alabama faired OK as the nations 75th best academic school but LSU was over 50 spots back at 128?!? That's good for 9th best academics in the 12 team SEC. Only Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Arkansas faired worse than the Tigers academically.
It's nice - very nice - that LSU has the country's number one ranked football team. It makes me and many others very happy. Now, how do we start caring about the really important stuff and make LSU a top 50 academic school? If SEC football powers Florida and Georgia can do it, why can't we?
128th in academics for our state's flagship university is unacceptable. If we can do it on the football field then we can do it in the classroom too.
