Hornets guard Austin Rivers said his right ankle injury, suffered Monday night at Dallas isn't as bad as feared.
At practice Tuesday at the Alario Center, Rivers was in a walking boot. But said Rivers, "I feel it was game seven tonight, I could play."
In a news release by the team, the Hornets said there is no structural damage to the first round picks right ankle.
Head coach Monty Williams said he attributed Rivers' optimism to exuberance.
"I wouldn’t jump the gun based on a 20 years old’s assessment of his medical history," said Williams. "Duke is a good school, but it is not that good."
The Hornets host Houston in a preseason game Wednesday night. Tipoff is 7.
