The Atlanta Falcons hopes of an unbeaten season were extinguished by an old nemisis.
The Saints beat Atlanta for the 11th time in the last 13 meetings.
Leading 28-24, the Falcons drove to the New Orleans two yard line. But, Matt Ryan's third down throw from the two yard line to Julio Jones fell incomplete in the back left corner of the end zone. Matt Bryant then booted a 20 yard field goal to pull Atlanta within a point.
Said Greer, "The quality of the opponent we beat, the rivalry we have, these people in New Orleans, they circle this date, And to be able to have this for them, have this win for the city is incredible."
The Saints held Atlanta to 46 rushing yards.
New Orleans rushed 29 times for 146 yards, including a 56 yard touchdown run Chris Ivory.
Atlanta's Matt Ryan threw three touchdown passes, two to tight end Tony Gonzalez. Ryan was 15-0 when throwing three touchdown passes in a game.
The Falcons and Saints meet again in Atlanta, Thursday night November 29th.
